Aside from khao soi, Vieng Joom On Teahouse was one of the two things my sister-in-law recommended we visit during our trip. We actually did not plan on visiting it until we were at the Destination Chiang Mai office and I was hailing an Uber and I saw that there was a Vieng Joom On teahouse in the vicinity. So we rode the Uber car and off we went to the teahouse.

Wualai Saturday Walking Market in Chiang Mai
After a wonderful day to Thailand’s highest peak, Doi Inthanon, and trekking along rice paddies and small coffee farms at a hilltribe community, we were back in Chiang Mai with the lights of the day still up so we asked Aek, our guide, to drop us off at the Saturday Walking Market.

I am admittedly not a foodie but I do love to eat good food every day. When I travel, I usually ask people I personally know of what to eat and where to eat. While planning our Chiang Mai trip, I did not have any specific list of “what to eat” and “where to eat” except for Akha Ama. Because my sister-in-law has been in Chiang Mai before, we asked her for food recommendations and khao soi was one of her highly recommended food to eat when in Chiang Mai.
Akha Ama Coffee
I read about Akha Ama a few years ago in a magazine featuring coffee shops selling sustainable coffee. I was already regularly drinking coffee then but I had zero knowledge about coffee growing, the coffee industry, and the people behind the coffee bar counters. But I was already interested in Thailand since I was young so I placed Akha Ama at my imaginary list of “where to go in Thailand” list.
